A Touch of Glamour

It’s always a big compliment when a client asks us to come back to work on further projects, so we were delighted when this homeowner asked us to revisit their home.

THE CHALLENGE

This client had a huge project underway refurbishing six bathrooms whilst removing the roof to put in a whole new floor at their property in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.

It was our job to work alongside the main contractor on the bathroom design and supply, specifically taking care of the master ensuite, two son’s bathrooms, a guest bathroom and the downstairs cloakrooms.

Whilst all of the bathrooms were important, the client’s main focus was the master ensuite design which needed to be a relaxing sanctuary.  The couple worked in the city and so this was designed to be their luxurious retreat for unwinding after long working hours and arduous commutes. Often we are restricted by the size of a space, but this master ensuite gave us lots of room to create a design with interesting focal points and large statement pieces.

To add drama to the design, both the niche and shower area were highlighted with shimmering mosaic tiles to draw the eye to these beautiful features.  To add contrast the surfaces were finished with honed marron imperial marble.

THE SOLUTION

We introduced a half height partition wall to create a spacious walk through shower area with a bespoke glass screen above to let light flow through.  This also gave us an opportunity to highlight the freestanding bath by placing this in front and creating a niche within the wall to store toiletries and candles.

So as to not detract from the stunning bath within this layout, we chose to neatly conceal the wall-hung set behind the entrance, shielding its view. This not only defines a clear zone between relaxation and the fundamentals, but also continues on with the desired minimalist qualities.

THE RESULT

We incorporated an elegant yet practical vanity area, providing an ample work surface to assist with everyday use. The large, statement ‘his and hers’ basins perfectly emphasise how to include not only a basin, an essential bathroom item, but also plentiful surface space for toiletries. As the countertop is made from glass, it’s easy to clean providing reflective qualities to capture the light. Sanctuary is a leading supplier of bathrooms in Surrey.
